All trees need nutrients to be able to survive; that is, they need 'food', as they cannot live on water alone. Although there are species capable of growing in poor soils, such as the Melia sourach, in those lands where there is absolutely nothing, not a single seed germinates.

That is why growing media for potted plants usually contain some fertilizer, or why so many fertilizers are made: crops grow much better when they are fertilized. They are healthier, produce fruit normally, and even live better.

But it is also true that the abuse of these products can harm the environment. So, it is very, very important to use them correctly, following the instructions on the package, or even prioritize the use of natural fertilizers. And there are many of these, such as guano or animal manure, so it is not necessary to buy only fertilizers if we want our trees to be beautiful.
